Plus, I am offering a small prize so be sure to keep reading on how to qualify.
Along this crafting space blog hop you will see some amazing areas. Mine is definitely not one of them. But, I will still show it to you.
First, you should have arrived here from Lydia's blog.
My space is small. It is a room that I have basically lived in the past year after being put on long-term disability. My dream room is in my mind... a hobby farm on a lake with a dock for fishing, surrounded by nature, an older home with a room dedicated to all my crafts of now and room for those in the future.... ahhhhh.... Calgon take me away!
To the floor... bins, baskets, boxes, baggies |
Table space... you see it... right? It's that little cleared area. |
More pulled out and piled high. It all does have a home... honestly! |
Empty shelves mean cluttered table and floor. |
When I am working on a project, all comes out and to the floor and on top of my table. I can work in the smallest of spaces just by clearing an area to accommodate the size of the project I am working on ... 2 x 2, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, 6 x 6, etc.
Cleaned up with a different table, all back on the shelves, and the dog can now walk through the space. I had hubby take the closet doors off so I could see what was in there. You know the saying... out of sight, out of mind? I could never remember what was hiding in there plus it was always so dark. The curtain should have come down as I was just testing it to see if I wanted to add one. I definitely would want it longer and a different print. See how I took the photo so you couldn't see my Cricut or sewing machine sitting in the closet? The sewing machine has never even been threaded! At least the Cricut has been used a half-dozen times. The walls are a bland color. When I mention painting, my sweet husband cringes as there is too much to move, take off the wall, relocate, then put back.
See my "Sassy"? Hubby took the closet doors off so I could see it all. That curtain has to go. It was only being used to see if I wanted one there or not. |
Cleaned up and everything put in its spot. |
New table, clean work space... I don't think I can work like this! |
I have three of these carts and think I could use 50! Four drawers full of adhesive and two have items for stamping. |
Daybed is great for hiding things - underneath the bed it is full of stamps, paper, punches, etc. |
My Organizational Tip... How many of you go to a warehouse like Costco or Sam's Club? Regularly we buy fruit in the clear plastic containers. Don't throw those away! They can be used to store stamps and supplies. To stabilize them, if needed, just insert a piece of chipboard or anything sturdy. Another thing I do with the smaller ones is clean paint brushes. I put my used brushes in the container, close the lid, submerge in soapy water, jiggle it back and forth, soak if needed, rinse, let dry and VOILA... clean brushes!
My Prize Info... To qualify for the prize I am offering you must be/become a follower of my blog and leave me an organizational tip along with a way to contact you. I will assign each follower a number to determine the winner using Random Number Generator. My prize will be awarded on Monday and I am only able to ship to those with a US address. I appreciate your understanding.

This is a great room. I don't have closet doors either, but I use my curtains to hide some of the mess!!!
Wonderful craft space. I'm a new follower. Like your tips. Especially like the shelf with the rubber stamps. My tip is I write with a Sharpie black marker the name of the embossing folder so I can know what it is when I use & list on my blog. Thanks for giveaway chance.

What a great space. I love all the shelving you have. My favorite is your stamping shelve. What a great find.
Awesome creative space and thanks for the tip!
Loved seeing your space Sassy. I really like seeing what other people do with their space to see if any of their ideas will work for me. I have a ton of ribbons, yes, literally! LOL! I have separated it all out by colors and have each color in it's plastic container. A few years ago I bought some at Target. They were all the rage. When I outgrew those, I started using plastic shoeboxes that you get at Walmart. Works for me.
I really like your wall of stamps, I might try that!
Great tip on using the fruit containers for storage and especially for cleaning your paint brushes. Now I know what to do with the strawberry tubs I just bought, once the berries are gone!
Had to chuckle a few times during your tour - honesty is the best policy..lol I like to use the 12 x 12 storage boxes for all my embellishments- and label each box - which I have about 15 of them currently I need some more lol Happy Scrapping!

Your room reminds me of mine!! I get everything out and leave myself a very tiny area to craft!! I like your shelves and containers and I agree that you need to see things so you don't forget you have them!!!
My tip (that is not on your blog or mine) is to use a label maker on your containers and shelves!
You've done an amazing job of organizing your space! Mine is pretty small too (a corner of the living room), so I know about not having much room. ;) One of my favorite organizational tips has always been to invest in a Clip-It-Up! You can fit SO much on them. I emptied out like 3 baskets onto mine...
Love the hide things under bed tip will def use that :) my tip is wedding favor tins I buy them with a half off coupon you get a lot in one box and they are great for storing brads buttons eyelets and all your small stuff. You can contact me at Audra.meahl@gmail.com thanks and now that I'm a new followers can't wait to see what you have in store :)
Good Day Ms Sassy! Thanks for sharing your Craft room with us...love it even the shelf where you store all your lovely stamp like it also...you gave us nice idea.
God Bless!
Catt
Love that idea with the containers from Costco. My newest idea was spice racks.. I bought two rotating spice racks.. dumped out all the spices LOL Yes I did.. and filled them up with my buttons!
Oh my Sassy... You have BIG dreams like me on a wonderful peaceful lake home with scrapbooking a priority. One day indeed...
Thank you for sharing your craft room.
My organizational tip would be to keep like things together. and prepare a holding album for future project.

Love your before and after...messy to clean up photos, Joan!! And great idea taking the doors off of the cabinet. I am the same way, if I don't see it...I forget about it!!
That's one stash to play in I love taking a peak at other's rooms :)
Thank you so much for showing your craft room in all its crafting glory! I am so very envious of your 5$ find, its one we all dream of LOL! I use my empty jelly containers for EVERYTHING. I am going through a bad waffle and jelly addiction and I get a small jar empty a week. I put my ribbon scraps, paper scraps loose beads, brads eyelets in each one depending on color. Helps me when I am working on a pink and yellow layout to grab those containers, not the entire brad set.

Thanks for the chance to win! I hope you can craft out any disabilty issues you may have. I was sorry to read that part.
Thank you for sharing pictures of your craft space, very nice ! I really like the shelf unit ! Lucky you ! As for an organizational tip...I got an octopus clip-it in the bathroom section at IKEA and I use it to store misc embellishments that don't go into any other storage solutions where I store my ribbon, brads, buttons, stickers, blings or letters. It's hanging from the roof and gives a fun twist to my craft space :-) dionne.julie@videotron.ca Thanks for the opportunity !
Love your take on your scrapbook room! My organization tip is...get yourself to IKEA. You can find tons of cute storage ideas for CHEAP. The less we spend on storage, the more we can spend on supplies!

You have lots of great tips..
Love your craft area! I think alot of piled up things are great because it shows you are hard at work! :)
LOL! I so totally have a crafting table just like yours. I craft in a space just the right size for my current project. I clean it off then I craft, craft, craft and soon I'm back to that same little space. I know it is time to clean my table when there isn't room left. TFS your craftring space. I just became an email follower.

Oop forgot to add my tip. I like to keep all of my themed paper, stickers and asst emblies in 12x12 Iris boxes. I label them with my Dymo labeler so I know what is inside. Christmas, birthday, baby, vintage, etc.

I got so motivated seeing your cleaned space that I took a 5 minute break to go organize my eyelet drawer! LOl I found eyelets I had forgotten about! Now I have to remember to use them! Thanks for inspiration! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
Awesome work area Sassy. Love the shelf you have up to help display your wood stamps. I think I need to get on my other half and get him to hang the two str8 shelves I have up so it will be much easier for me to view my stamps. Thanks for sharing and look forward to visiting back! Christina
Love the creative mess and the under the bed storage. My solution to storage is to go up, use shelves, stack drawers, if they get a little too high screw them to the wall so you don't accidently squish the dog under a mountain of patterned paper, thanks for sharing your space. cheers Linda
Your messy desk looks just like mine, you only need such a tiny space to work in - the rest is for storage : )
Love the state of your desk - its shows that you really know how to use your space. TFS

I agree with labeling, that;s what I will be doing soon. I just bought one and wait to use it!
I like your space and tips!
lori.bourg@gmail.com
I love your mess!!!Sandra
Thanks for the tips!! Unfortunately no costco or sam's club nearby....I love your mess!!
Your stamp storage is SO cute ( what a great bargain too!)
I'm terrible at organising but I do find that using non-crafty storage works well. Repurposing thrifty finds I lays fun!
awesome space - you have lots of great "stuff" !!!!!
The rubber stamp storage was a great find. I save all of the single serve applesauce, water ice, etc type containers to mix paint in or put just enough ModPodge in to use - then I can just throw the container out (lazy, I know!)
Is the girl above the daybed your artwork? - She's beautiful!
Thanks for sharing your space!

Love your messy space, mine is pretty similar...but smaller! Here's my organizational tip: File your small scraps by color in file folders in a file drawer, easy to find and use!
Sorry, forgot to put my email: lauraalberts1984 @ hotmail.com
Sassy your room looks just like mine when I'm in the middle of a bunch of projects! lol I love those rolling carts too...think I might need to add some under my table! Thanks for the tip!
Very nice space. I don't have a lot of space, and I like to be portable (go to crops and such), so I got myself 4 Creative Memories storage bags: the big wheeled tote (to store my CTMH stamps and inks), the weekender bag (I keep my paper in there), the project tote (so if I only need to take a few things with me), and the tools tote (I keep all my adhesive, scissors, punches, embossing tools, etc. in there). Here's my email: sarahstone@marykay.com.
I loved the tour! Your craft room looks super fun. Hmm... Organizational tip... Drawers are good. :)
I think you have done well for a small room. I had a small room but in our new home I have half the basement :)
My tip is baskets, baskets and more baskets. I have a ton and they add to the beauty of the room
I have two tips -
The first is because I hate to throw anything away. I keep my scraps in an expandable file, sorted by color and pattern, on my worktable. I stand long narrow scraps vertically along one side to mark the sections so that it is easy to use my scraps.
The second is because I need to keep the chaos on my work table to manageable level.s. Each time I finish a layout or project, I pick everything up so that I can start with a clean slate on my next project.
Thanks for the tip!
Maggie - I will check these out... wait on a sale to start my small collection.
I almost bought two of these the other day... dang!
Aw, too bad about the US address deal, I'd love to win your prize, but of course I completely understand! Let's see, a tip, hmmmmm... well, I just put up a shelf and rod that used to be in the closet - now I can hang my kits in big ziploc bags from pants hangers and I can see them all out in the open!
I am a messy crafter. BUT I have found that organizing things by color makes my life much easier. I can pull out the red bin and find buttons, ribbon, stickles, inks and paper scraps all red. NOW...my whole craft room is not like this BUT I have about 20 plastic shoesboxes organized that way.

I also have a small scrap space, it is a one end of our family room in the basement. I file my smaller pieces of pp/cardstock by color in a file folder and use lots of baskets! Thanks for sharing!
That's a great idea to take the doors off the closet! You get more access. I might try to convince my "sassy husband" to do the same for me :)
My room tends to be on the messy side and like you I can push things aside and work with a little space! Love the shelves over your table!
Had a total "DUHHH!" moment when I read your FABULOUS idea about recycling plastic fruit containers for storage and to soak paint brushes in...now why didn't I think of that??? LOL!! Thanks for sharing that great tip as well as the photos of your craft room. :)
I like to use glass jars to store things like ribbon, buttons, wood mounted stamps, flowers, etc. in. I really love it when I can find old jars at garage sales and flea markets...the vintage ones are the best!
I'm now a follower of your blog, and my contact information is scrappinbeckyb@cox.net. My blog address is http://scrappinbeckyb.blogspot.com
Thanks for showing us your space! I like to sort my paper scraps by color for easy use :)

new follower :)
I am a follower and really appreciate the chance to win :) My organization tip is to put things that you know you will never use again in a box or bag. Then, when you scrap with others or when it gets full donate it. This helps me avoid too much clutter.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
kisses kisses

love your tip!! You also have great shelves! My tip.... all my plug-in tools, machines, chargers are in a surge protected power strip ready to use == and all I have to do is hit one switch to turn off. Thanks for sharing your room with us! Laurie- email LP3Leos@comcast.net
Well, I like to play at organization, but I never actually get there. lol. One thing that's worked for me is keeping like colored embellishments together. I got a spice rack (with the bottles!) for $3 at our resale shop. After a run through the dish washer, the bottles were squeaky clean. I have them sorted by colors - buttons/brads/flowers... just in case it needs "something" but I haven't decided what. :) My email is katherinestamps at msn dot com.
Have you announced the blog hop winner yet??
I love that you showed us your space the way it normally looks!! I am a messy crafter too but as soon as I finish a project, everything has to be put right back where it belongs before I start my next project!! lol!! Great idea to take the doors off the closet... I think I may have to use that one!!
