Crafty Gals - January

It's Anything Goes for the SCS Crafty Gals.  I just joined this blog group.  What a great group of ladies!  On the 5th of each month we will post our take on the monthly challenge.  This month I used a Christmas gift I hadn't yet gotten posted.

You all know how hard it is to come up with that gift for a parent - especially the elderly parent that wants nothing and seems to have all they need.  Three years ago I made my Mom a calendar for Christmas and she loved it.  Year two she told me she was hoping to get another.  So, for this year, number three I didn't want to disappoint.  My Mom is 84 and she keeps this calendar in her living room.  It is 6 x 6.  The actual calendar download is from Taylored Expressions.  And, she displays it in the 6 x 6 Frame Your Imagination Vertical Stand also from Taylored Expressions.

I took the pics in a rush and many I am not happy with and wish I had reviewed them before giving.  But, you know that last minute Christmas rush to get it all done and wrapped because it is Christmas Eve.  Christmas Day is traveling 1 1/2 hours to spend with her so retaking them at this moment in time is not possible.

A challenge for me this year is not to wait until the last month to get all my Christmas gifts done.  Wouldn't it be so much simpler if I took care of each month as easily as it is turning the calendar page?  Thus, allowing for better photos in better light with minimal editing.

For 2013, I used My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Girls for January - December.  Each month has the girl with the flower of the month.

I have another calendar to post that was also a gift but for my Aunt done in a completely different size.

I hope you take the time to visit all the Crafty Gals blogs and leave a comment.  Their links are all on the left-side of my blog.

Your calendar is soooooo pretty!!! I love the way you used PI images throughout.

Many years ago, when my parents were full-time RV'ers, I too gave them a handmade calendar for Christmas. They loved it and INSISTED I make them one every year for Christmas, a tradition I continued for about 15 years. They were fun to create - they included photos of our children and love notes on theh dates, as well as notations of some quirky holidays - like Dill Pickle day. I miss making them.

Here's a link if you'd like to see a picture of one of mine... http://creativeplayischeaperthantherapy.blogspot.com/search/label/Calendar

I LOVE THIS!!!!! This is actually a project I've wanted to do for the past couple of years and never get it done. Maybe you and I should do one page a month and then it will be finished in time for Christmas gift giving!!
